Perspective

Being in the mountains gives me the physical distance to see everything in a clearer perspective, as well as the physical and mental space to escape the turbulence of modern society. Here, I have the time to be free, to process stimuli, thoughts, emotions, and ideas, and to gain new insights. Here, I am liberated and able to apply my own structure and approach, at my own pace. What I can’t describe in words, I can tell with images that flow out of my own, personal train of thought. The space I experience in the mountains is the same one I experience in the photography darkroom, far away from people. Here, I feel comfortable enough to take a rational step away from learned artistic structures and ingrained approaches to life. In my ideal world, structure and space – both artistically and more generally – converge.
